SHOW: All Research Publications Roles
In collaboration with Cherished Pets Community Veterinary Care, this project sought to reduce older adult social isolation through a pet-centric and place-based game. Building on the World Health Organisation (2020) recognition of the benefit of game play during COVID-19 restrictions for social inclusion, the resulting location-based game drew on the power of pets to connect people and will incorporate physical and digital elements to make pet responsibility a playful, social and community activity.
Seeking to provide opportunities for social connection over 2021, play was tested by several members of the Cherished Pets community and general public, forming notions around the role of animals in social engagement and how such a platform can provide an alternative, safe and remote way to reconnect with volunteers. This project was support by a Community Connections Grant from the Give Where You Live Foundation
