2018 - Aperture, Multi-Sensory Tool for Mental Health Therapy ︎

Sheahan, J.

Honours Thesis, RMIT University
One in two Australians will be affected by a mental illness in their lives (Black Dog Institute, 2014), this is only compounded by the reality that nearly 1 million Australians will be living with dementia by 2050 (Deloitte Access Economics, 2010). An increasingly applicable medium of non-pharmacological therapy is the use of virtual reality headsets within the healthcare field. The benefits of this method are become clearer with every day, as the maturing of the technology enables improved accessibility, both financially and adaptability, as the motion-sickness issues and hardware requirements are removed.

I acknowledge the peoples on whose lands I conduct my work, and respectfully acknowledge  Ancestors and Elders, past, present and emerging.
